Relationship to the deceased:

"He went to the ER on March 30th and intubated on a ventilator on April 1," she said.

"Since then has he has suffered an infection that caused his heart to stop, he needed resuscitation, he had two mini strokes, went on ECMO, went on dialysis, needed surgery to [remove] an ECMO cannula that was restricting blood flow to his leg, a fasciotomy to relieve pressure on the leg, an amputation of his right leg, an MRI to further investigate brain damage, several bronchial sweeps to clear out his lungs, a sepsis infection causing septic shock, a fungus in his lungs, holes in his lungs, a tracheostomy, blood clots, low blood count and platelet levels, and a temporary pacemaker to assist his heart."

She later told CBS This Morning that her husband's lungs had been "severely damaged" by the disease, and that it was likely he would need a double lung transplant "in order to live the kind of life that I know my husband would want to live"

"The last thing he ever texted me was to look out for his wife and one year old son, Elvis," he went on. "I promise the world they will never want for anything."

Braff's girlfriend, actor Florence Pugh, also paid tribute to Cordero with an Instagram post. "It is so shocking and devastating to see one of your own come down as hard as he did," Pugh wrote. "Over the last few months I’ve wanted to ask myself every day — what can I do to help? But, instead I’ll ask all of you. What can WE do to help?"

"Help the world by continuing to take this virus seriously. Wear your mask, respect others’ space, clean your hands and please be safe. This is far from over," she continued.

"He was light. Kind and gentle. Talented and humble. Funny and friendly," she said. "The best laugh. Sending so much love to the love warrior @amandakloots and little Elvis, and an immense hug to any one who is feeling the loss of this giant heart."
